One Room Challenge Week 2

Apr 12, 2018 | Bedroom, Design, One Room Challenge

My mid mod bedroom for the One Room Challenge is coming along great! There are still some decisions to make, like what rug should we buy and what should we use as nightstands. But the biggest decision of what bed to buy has been made! And boy am I happy with our choice. Here are some basic plans for the space.

The rug in the first photo is not really an option. The problem is it doesn’t come in the right size. But if it did, I would buy it. It’s from Anthropologie and it is so dreamy.

The large baskets are from High Street Market in Lansdale, PA. I haven’t bought them yet, but I plan to. This shop is actually pretty close to where I live and I can’t believe I haven’t been there yet. I found them via Instagram and everything they have is amazing! I could seriously do this whole challenge just by shopping there.

The rug below I almost bought, but now I am debating getting something more modern. The main reason I liked it is because it was really affordable. And I want to add some color to the space. The rug decision may be the hardest to make, but in the meantime I am trying to keep things simple with the color scheme.

inspiration boardThe bed we decided on (shown above) is from Article and I am in LOVE with it. It’s solid walnut hardwood, not laminate or veneer. And for the quality, it could have easily been twice the price. It still wasn’t cheap, but is the one piece I wanted to splurge on this time around. Last year we bought an Ikea bed and that thing was not holding up. We actually moved it to the guest room and lost a drawer in the process. I wanted to spend more money this time around for something that will last. And so far I am super impressed with the Article bed. I haven’t slept on it yet, because we actually just put it together this evening.

The planter is by East Pine on Etsy. I also haven’t ordered it yet, but I need to get on that soon. I was waiting for the plant to arrive, which happened today. Now I know what size  pot I should buy. The plant I bought from Amazon of all places. I never thought of buying a plant from there, but it actually turned out great. It seems to be healthy and arrived in good shape.

This week I tackled the flooring. We decided to go with something that is both very affordable and quick. It’s not the long term solution for flooring and will eventually be replaced with hardwood or carpet. So what is this temporary floor choice? Painting the subfloor white. We spent the weekend tearing out the carpet. I then painted the walls and the floors the same color, Marshmallow from Sherwin Williams. It’s a great white and has brightened up the room so much!

I also started going through my art collection to figure out what may work. I am trying to keep it semi monochromatic. Well not completely, but for me it will have less color than usual. Here is what I have gathered so far.

Most of these have been flea market and antique store finds. The carving below was an auction find and I am obsessed. I am so glad that I never sold it, because it is amazing. I think it’s really old and seems to be of squirrels. It rules.

The room is actually coming together faster than I imagined. Make sure to follow along on Instagram at @oneroomchallenge and @brandeyehome. There are so many others doing this and it’s so fun to check them all out HERE.

Tablescape Inspiration

Our favorite holiday to host is Thanksgiving. This year I started my table planning early due to a brand post that I did with Allem Studio. They sent me some of their beautiful block-printed linens and I created a tablescape to showcase them. Since this is...
