So I finally decided on the rugs. I went with the black and white ones that I linked on last week’s post. If money was no object, I would have gone with an antique hand knotted rug. But I am spending a pretty penny here and there on all of what I need for the room, so I have to save somewhere. The closet below I kept as-is in all of it’s wood grain glory. I love these closet doors! The chair was a craigslist find from a few years ago and is a Thonet chair from DWR. I”m obsessed with all bentwood chairs.
I also switched out the handles on the drawers to black knobs. This was quite easy to do, and I’m glad I went this route, because finding handles that were the same size of the handles was really hard, and they are more expensive. I found these black knobs on amazon for $16 for 10 of them! That is a steal. You just have to fill the extra holes with wood putty, and sand it down. Then hit it with some primer and paint.
The knobs on the sink area were also changed to black.
The current dilemma is what to do with this area. I want to have a full length mirror here, but I don’t want to buy another mirror and want to use what we already have. So I first was thinking to use the two frameless ones and have the rectangular one hung on top of the one with rounded edges. Basically sort of how they are arranged here, but without the framed one. But then Dave put the framed mirror here (I guess he saw a bunch of mirrors and wanted this one out of his dressing room so he added it, lol). But it turns out that I really like the wood tones in the frame of this one, so now I don’t know what to do. Ideally the wooden one would be large enough to be a full length mirror, and although I am only 5′ 1″, it just isn’t tall enough.
Friday night I found a planter for this plant, and night side tables. Next week I’ll give you all the details of those finds. Any by next week I mean this Wednesday, because this blog post is a wee bit late. I had to travel for work this week (my ‘real’ job), so forgive me.
Thanks for following along! And don’t forget to check out all of the participants of the One Room Challenge Featured Designers and Guest Participants (that’s me).
I love the rug choice Brandi!
Thanks! I decided on a neutral choice with the black and white.
